SCAM don't waste your time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is a SCAM. The sales rep talked a good game, but not a single one of the leads worked out, not a single lead answered a phone or responded to a text, for all I know they were just bots. Then when I called in it took forever to get ahold of anyone, even my sales rep didn't respond. When I finally did talk to customer service, they were very much so say its not my problem that the leads are trash. The person on the phone seemed like they wanted nothing to do with us and did not care that we were unhappy. This was and is a SCAM

STAY AWAY! These people will rip you off in a heartbeat. First the sales people are liars. They give you an extra lead money for what you put in but fail to tell you the details until you get leads in the middle of the night. You get the lead and you call and nobody I talked to wanted any information. After 19 leads with not one interested party I called and canceled. Well they fail to tell you that you will not get any good leads and if you cancel they take any lead that they did not give you credit for comes off your original purchase. Do not talk to anyone there because they will scam you. Go somewhere else.

This company took 350 dollars from me. MY leads were dead and already worked. I got no results. I requested credit and got nowhere.. They finally got somebody to call me back. Long story short, I was credited for 5 leads. When I waited for a refund, they said by the time they credited the account, it was too late to get me any money back. Total scammers and waste of time.

Do not honor word

I purchased leads and set filters which specifically said I did not want SR22, or DWI's because they would not have been possible for me to use. They do not qualify for insurance for my company. They say they will refund those which you cannot write and that is why we set filters. At least half of the leads I received were not able to be written and I had set my filters. I requested a refund and was denied. I pushed back and asked why and they told me "customer dishonesty" is not a reason for a refund. I cannot write them which would fall under the refund category. First lady called and told me in sum , too bad. I canceled, then another lady calls me and proceeds to argue with me telling me that they had good leads and just because someone did not fill out the information with the truth it still was a good lead. Below is what happened in their words, not mine. I reviewed your account Lead Id: , Regrettable ........we do not credit for consumer dishonesty. We filter as is. I have listed below the credit policy and instructions on how to request credit. If you need any further assistance please let us know. Have a great day. The above is a response I got. I also got one which the lead had a revoked license and 7 tickets, which was another they stiffed me for. The term Regrettable was what truly angered me the most. My response: Regrettably 50% of the leads which have set filters for have not met them. Regrettably I am now telling every single agent I know and posting everywhere I can think Of about your Steller customer service. Regrettably I will make sure when every new agent asks my opinion I make sure to steer them from your company. No sales have come from your leads whereas the other two I have been “trying” have given me sales. There is no point in having Filters if you do not honor them. I also cannot write a DWI which is one of the reasons I sent it back for refund. Victoria Cheeseman , This is the person who felt is was a good idea to call a client and argue with them. Insisting they provide good leads. So, this is what I told her. I will tell every agent possible about this and as I did today in a class of 24 others that is exactly what I did. Either you stand by your word or you do not, but I will not let someone else pay for leads which are unusable.

Very negative experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I'm very unhappy with my experience with Hometown Quotes. After making an initial payment I received no leads even though I gave them loose parameters and a wide geopgraphy covering 3 counties with the exclusion of a couple of towns in one of the counties that are higher crime areas.

I also knew that they recharge your card with very little warning (a few hours or less after sending an email saying you're acount is getting low.) So I asked them to take my card off my account which they said they had done....only they didn't and I got charged even more than my initial investment within 3 hours of getting an email saying my account was getting low. The leads took 6 weeks to start and that was after expanding my restrictions 2 times. The leads included more than a few for the city I wanted excluded and more than 8 for areas I didn't include within my parameters. I got all my leads, over 25 of them within 48 hours after waiting 6 weeks, then 2 immediate charges to my debit card that weren't authorized--why 2?

and why do they do it on a holiday or at 4-5AM? Because you can't respond on time to tell them to stop. This is not just one agent's experience, I was warned!

Shame on me. I thought by removing my card I could avoid it happening to me, but they must have lied about taking it off.

Hometown Quotes is a scam. Waist of money.

This company is a scam. I purchased home leads for $13.50 each but were provided with old auto and renters leads which are half the price. I rejected the bad leads but was told I would have to wait until after my card was charged another $200 before they would determine if I would be refunded for the bad leads. After cancelling my account they denied all of the leads I rejected. I spoke with several of the people from the bad leads and not one owned a home or were purchasing a home. Every person I spoke to was shopping for auto and renters insurance. Be warned, if you purchase leads from Hometown Quotes you will regret it. It's a waist of money.

Hometown Quotes are Scam Artist

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Hometown Quotes are scam artist. You will regret using this service.

I purchased home leads only but was provided mostly auto and renters leads which are half the price. Some were weeks old and sold to me as if they were new. When I rejected the leads nothing was done until they were about to charge my card again. The replacement leads were also renters and old auto leads. After I cancelled my account the denied all of the rejected leads. It appeared they intended to keep as much of my money as they could. If you purchase anything from Hometown Quotes you should expect the same.

Sincerely,

John Williams

NEVER USE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Three of the first 4 leads I received for this company did not match the lead filters. (NO INSURANCE) When I asked for credit for this i was told this.... Hi Chad, I understand your point of view, however we do not credit for this. We filter as is and if they are found ineligible we do not credit for that either. This lead will not be credited to your account. Please call with any further questions you may have. I sent in the MVR/CLUE proving that I was correct the client admitted she had no insurance of ANY kind!! Hometown Quotes would not look into it. I Told them to Credit me or cancel me. instead of giving me back $20 something dollars back they decided to loose my business.... Stupid choice terrible Customer Service!

They claim to be different from other lead sources but just put on a well done act to seem different but they boil down to be exactly the same. They take you through a rigorous sign up process setting target areas, asking what you'd like to filter out, etc.

I will say that unlike other lead sources, most of the numbers work but the leads are still garbage. I had several leads that should have been filtered but they didn't completely or correctly fill out the HTQ's information (which HTQ takes no responsibility for. If an applicant is misleading or flat out lies in their personal info HTQ doesn't care). They only give you seven days to return a lead which utterly unhelpful if I find out on the 10th day that they never actually requested a quote or already requested the information months ago.

I've purchased 22 leads, made contact with 11, and had 3 appointments. 2 of those appointments were people who SHOULD have been filtered due to health conditions. But HTQ could care less at the time, money, gas, etc.

wasted on those two leads that I should have never received. Bob Klee plasters his name and face everywhere claiming to have a high standard for customer service with agents, which seems true until they have your money.

Scammed Agent here...

Agents are scammed more than consumers. I have been on the site for several months. Agents pay upwards of $13 for leads that Hometownquotes are recycling or provide incorrect info. Customer service is one lady working from home. This company lies, chests and steals: money from Agents and info from clients. Don't do business with this Company!!!!!

Just Collect Personal Info and Sells It

This website is bogus; claims to provide your with multiple insurance quotes if you enter all your information, but after entering the info all you get is a list of vendors where you can fill in your information again and get a quote. After entering my info I immediately received spam phone calls and emails, so basically they collect your personal information and then sell it. When I sent an email to the listed address: service@***.com, I got this message "Thank you for contacting HometownQuotes. This is a non-monitored email. If you need immediate assistance, please contact us at myfriends@***.com." When I forwarded the email to myfriends@***.com, I got an auto reply for another bogus address zendesk@***.com. This company should be put out of business!!!! A scam to collect and sell personal information.

You are full of ***, whoever it is claiming to represent this company. My information, given exclusively to hometownquotes as part of a sign up process for something else (as in, i entered my information to you, to get quotes because I was requested to, to get a free membership to some other site, i had no real interest in insurance) However, your company has sold my information to geico, prudential, and companies that are less than reputable.

SInce my unfortuante run in with your company I get 3-5 emails and 15-20 phone calls a week about insurance, the phone calls are from known scammers and identity thieves. Your company is bogus.

I will do anything in my power to make sure you can't do this to anyone else. It should be against the law to appropriate, profit, and misuse personal and confidential data the way that you do so.

Bob K Ibp

I can honestly say that I have no idea who this person is. They also filed a complaint with the TN Dept of Consumer Affairs that I have already replied to.

We have served millions of consumers over the years & this is the first time we've ever received a complaint like this. Anyone that reads this can send me an email using the two email addresses she says are "bogus" & in the subject line say: Test for Bob

I promise, unless we get spammed with hundreds of emails, I will respond back or someone from my team will within 24 hours! We have been using the "zendesk" software for several years. One can check their excellent support product out at: zendesk.com

Our toll free phone number is also on our site so if there are any problems, consumers can call us at: 800.820.2981

I don't know if the person above has any spyware on their computer or what. They must have come to our site via an affiliate of ours but without the name of the person, I cannot track down the lead to find out anything. I would Love to help but impossible without knowing the name on the lead.

Finally, we are rated A+ with the Tennessee Better Business Bureau. We could NOT have that type of rating if we didn't take care of our customers. I hope this person finds the quality insurance they need.

Kind Regards,

Bob Klee

Hometownquotes.com using my name without permission

Hometownquotes.com and/or their affiliate has used my name to link to their website. These multiple links can drive clients away from me and redirect them to this company. It is very sneaky in my opinion. They have done nothing to suffice this issue as the links are still out there. They were sued last year by a very large insurance agency in the Nashville area for doing, what it seem to be the same thing. They have not followed up with me or put an end to this. Anyone that sells insurance should check themselves out online to make sure that no one is using their personal information to potentially profit. I am pissed!

They asked for my ss# and like a dummy I gave it to them. When I clicked on review my matches, there weren't any.

All I know is that I'm monitoring my credit reports, and I'm trying to be extra careful about giving out my ss#...what a joke, just for an insurance quote these people are relentless.

I don't know what to do except hope that they won't use my ss# to open an account in my name or something malicious. Anybody got any ideas on how to get this website shutdown?

Guest

June 28 comment. Did you read before filling out their forms asking for quotes?

Their site says "we can connect you with multiple insurance agents who will help you find the low-cost, affordable auto insurance you need."

So five agents called you to try & earn your business...and you expected something else?

Guess some folks don't read....and then complain when they get what they asked for. Go figure.

Guest

I put my information into one of their quote engines and I got over 25 phone calls from over 5 agents! Hometownquotes.com is not interested in finding the right insurance plan for people who visit their website!

They are only interested in selling your name to multiple insurance agents who are rude and pushy! Forget the BBB they dont do anything!

Contact your state attorney general! RIP OFF!!!

Guest

They lost that lawsuit and Hometown Quotes was cleared of all wrong.

Guest

IF you have a Real complaint, take it to the Better Business Bureau as they will investigate & help you out.

All this site does is use your complaints to help THEIR Affiliate program to sell YOUR information to others.

Guest

They do shady things all the time. It is how they work.

They sell you request to agents and then to other lead companies. What greedy people.
